His own beehives and the largest certified organic sea buckthorn plantation in this part of Europe were two competitive advantages that Cătălin Preotu, a lawyer by profession, decided to combine in a fresh business under the Melissimo umbrella. Six years after launching in the cold-pressed juices niche, the entrepreneur has big ambitions and is aiming to expand his portfolio and start exporting in force.
„We started with honey because we wanted to showcase this quality, local product. Melarium appeared in 2016, the birth of the brand was hard because the creative process took longer. After the launch, we were thinking about what else we could do with honey and that's how the idea of combining it with camomile came up. We realized that we couldn't use wild buckthorn as we couldn't keep the quality consistent, plus it was very difficult to harvest. After we bought organic quince from Arad, we wanted to produce our own”, recalls Cătălin Preotu.
